Twitter considers allowing posts longer than 140 characters, report says

As company searches for a new CEO and grapples with flattening growth, co-founder Jack Dorsey has suggested change is needed at the social media site.

Twitter is reportedly considering allowing longer tweets.

Twitter has struggled with flattening growth and is still in the midst of a search for a new CEO, with co-founder Jack Dorsey running the company in the interim.

Dorsey has been voluble about his perception of a need for change at Twitter and on the company’s most recent earnings call was frank about his disappointment with the status quo.
Other reports have speculated that Twitter will allow features making it easier to “tweetstorm,” or send multiple numbered tweets as a timeline-filling mini-essay in the manner of popular Twitter users like tech entrepreneur Marc Andreessen and New Republic editor Jeet Heer.

  • 140+ character limit to be allowed on twitter
  • more users
  • wider access around the world
  • ability to share more information with everyone

I believe Twitter most recently reported having 316m monthly active users – about one-fifth of Facebook’s user count – and it is looking for ways to increase that number, though it has had a great deal of success with advertising and monetization of its existing user base. It will allow users to express more of what they want to 'tweet' to one another with able to have unlimted characters.

"In the early years of e-books, the percentage growth from physical books to digital books was rapid. Now that e-reading is fully integrated into a consumer's choice of options, the market has begun to stabilize," Tina Jordan, vice-president of the publisher group,
  • Less Sales
  • Less Profit

I believe Sales of electronic books have fallen by the most on record in a stark reversal following several years of spectacular growth. Therefore it has been the largest drop since the beginning of the e-book market. The e-book market has been growing strongly, with the exception of a small drop in 2013.
